About

Built in 1881 and perched on a ridge above the Connecticut River in the village of Bellows Falls in Southern Vermont, the Harvest Barn Inn has served as a refuge for travelers for nearly 40 years. The inn retains its personality and many 19th century details like its hand-cut pumpkin pine floors, while also offering our guests modern amenities like newly-updated bathrooms, smart TVs, and mini splits in every room.

We take pride in having a small footprint. We’re solar-powered, our heating and cooling system is all electric, and we endeavor to serve food grown and raised within 25 miles of our front door.

The Harvest Barn Inn has hosted guests from every continent except Antarctica (so far!). It’s our mission to make this a comfortable, safe, relaxing place for everyone from everywhere. So whether you’re passing through, staying for a week to explore the wonders of south Vermont, or renting out the whole inn for a gathering of family or friends, we can’t wait to host you!

Who are we?

The Harvest Barn Inn is owned and run by Blessing and Kaelan Yen Smith. We came to Vermont in search of a more community-oriented life, and discovered that Bellows Falls was the place we’d been looking for.

Only 26% of Americans in general say they know their neighbors—in Vermont, it’s over two-thirds. Only 38% of Americans say they mostly or completely trust their neighbors, but 78% of Vermonters say the people in their neighborhoods trust each other to be good neighbors. For us, this checks out completely. We felt immediately welcomed into this community, and we try to extend that same hospitality and warmth to our guests. Bellows Falls has a complex, centuries-long history and a thriving (and growing!) present, and we want to do our small part to make sure it can flourish deep into the future.
